About the Grafschafter Klimawald cooperation

One project that is very close to our hearts at HKM is the Grafschafter Klimawald. For every end customer order over €100, we plant a tree there - our contribution to the future!
The organisation Grafschafter Klimawald wants to make the county of Bentheim, where HKM is located, more sustainable and is establishing climate forests on former permanent grassland on a total area of around 3.5 hectares. Two areas are available to the project for this purpose: in the Upper County and in the Lower County. The forest is to be created as a regionally typical mixed forest and will be able to bind more than 40 tonnes of CO² per year. In this way, it will actively protect the climate.

The organisation Grafschafter Klimawald works closely with the zoo in Nordhorn. The zoo in Nordhorn is a scientifically managed zoo that is strongly committed to the issue of sustainability. The zoo school is a recognised extracurricular place of learning according to BNE (Education for Sustainable Development). Together with its staff, the zoo looks after around 170 hectares as a regional species and nature conservation centre, for example the juniper heath and the Bentheimer Hutewald. The close cooperation is intended to ensure that the forest is also truly sustainable and created for the long term.

Our goal is that together with your support through your purchase in our online shop, we can plant 1,500 trees on a forest area of around 1,000 square metres.
